Pamper Your Partner with the Perfect Spa Day at Home

We so often forget that our person chose to be here with us and start taking them for granted, which is a sure way to let love go stale. You don't need a specific date or season to remember why you love your special someone. Every now and again, clear both of your schedules and dedicate a day, an afternoon, or an evening to cherishing and pampering each other. Take a spa day at home together, turn off your phones and screens, send the kids to grandma's, lock the door, light some candles, get out the oils, and just be present in the moment. This time is just for you two, and it's very healthy for a couple to take a break from the endless daily chores that may sometimes leave you feeling like roommates, not lovers.

Even when it’s not Valentine's Day or your anniversary, why not out your inner romance ninja? Sure, date nights and new experiences can be fun, but a spa day at home will give you a safe space to relax alone and do something good for your body, soul, and relationship. If you're not very good with the whole romantic gesture thing and have no idea how even to start organizing a spa day at home for your love, we've got you covered with some beginner-friendly tricks below. Nothing fancy, just a few high-impact, simple tricks.

1. Set The Mood

There is rarely a thing so cheap and effective as a candle to instantly change the mood of the space. The great thing about turning the lights low is that if you're a bit self-conscious about your tired face or body after a full workweek of challenges, candles make us all look gorgeous, bright-eyed, and sensual. You can even add the element of scent if you wish, but choose a scent profile you know you'd both like. Don't go pachouli crazy or smother the room in lavender if your partner does not enjoy these scents. If unsure, it is better to go with a regular unscented candle. Light a few of them in strategic places around the darkened room.

Also, put on some music. Nothing too pushy or attention-grabbing, as you'd like it to be an auditory background. We wouldn't presume to advise you on the genre as we don't know what you like. Maybe your eyes met across the floor at a heavy metal concert, maybe you fell in love over Taylor Swift blaring through a speaker, or you danced your first dance to a deep voice piece, or someone's uncle strumming the banjo. Choose what you both enjoy.

Select comfortable clothes you feel attractive or frisky in. You may or may not end up in the bedroom (or in the shower, or on the kitchen counter), but that's not the point. An old tracksuit with holes might be the most comfortable garment you own, but please show some respect to the other and your spa day at home with your wardrobe choice. It may even be a nice bathrobe if you wish, but make sure you and it are clean.

2. Treat Each Other to a Relaxing Massage

We all have a lot to do during the day and don't even notice how tense we get as the to-do list items keep reproducing every time you take your eyes off them. We think we're fine until the body starts sending warning signals of stiffness and pain. Only then do we consider a massage, which is a perfect spa day at home activity. But, in this context, think of a massage as a way to reconnect, to create a safe, nurturing space, to use touch to explore and give pleasure to your significant other. Get a nice oil or lotion, and start exploring. Pro tip: Warm the oil in your hands before you apply it to your partner's skin because an unexpected cold splash can be quite uncomfortable.

It's time for technique. You don't have to be a professional masseuse to give a great massage. The easiest way to start is by applying pressure with your fingertips and palms, focusing on areas like the shoulders, neck, back, and feet where tension accumulates. Use long, smooth strokes to knead away any knots and tightness, and remember to communicate with your partner about what feels good and what doesn't. You can choose to switch places, or you can be graceful and not ask a massage in return, just letting your partner relax without the tit-for-tat, which could (ironically) get you some tit (or tat).

3. Couples That Cleanse Together, Stay Together

When was the last time you shared a steaming hot shower together? The shower is a great place to get clean (and dirty) but also a fantastic place for skin care as the steam will open up your pores, soften the skin, and allow you to more easily expel impurities stuck in pores (sauna also does a great job at this). This spa day at home item is also an excellent starting point for anti-aging massages to stimulate microcirculation and rejuvenate the skin. So, be it a romantic bath or a steamy shower session together, enjoy it. Get some washcloths and face and body exfoliators, or invest in a great facial cleansing device with an anti-aging mode, LUNA™ 4, and its male counterpart adapted to thicker male skin and beard, LUNA™ 4 MEN. For those who like to play around with gadgets (no, not those, you dirty goose), there is also a full-body version of the world's most beloved brush, the LUNA™ 4 body. With five massage patterns and app-guided routines, it's like truly having a professional spa day at home.

Unlike traditional brushes with nylon bristles that can be really harsh on sensitive skin, LUNA™ 4 collection devices feature soft silicone touchpoints designed for each skin type. These revolutionary facial cleansing devices remove 99% of dirt and makeup residue while at the same time firming and depuffing the skin.

4. Mask Your Way to Glowing Skin

You know how it goes - Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face.... or he'll just squirm uncomfortably, trying to freeze his face for 20 minutes of masking. But you can pull a Morpheous on him/her and do the "What if I told you..." thing, explaining that masking with UFO™ 3 devices takes just 2 minutes and works better than sheet masks.

By combining Cryo-Therapy, Thermo-Therapy, T-Sonic™ pulsations, and LED therapy, UFO™ 3 deep hydration device ensures deep and long-lasting moisture infusion into the skin, giving your spa day at home a bit more professional feel.

Here's how it works:

Thermo-Therapy uses gentle heat to soften the skin and open up the pores, allowing the active ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin, where they can work their magic most effectively. Meanwhile, Cryo-Therapy steps in with its cooling sensation to soothe inflammation and rejuvenate tired, stressed-out skin, while also closing the pores to lock in precious actives and make them appear smaller.

T-Sonic™ pulsations provide a gentle massage to relax facial and neck muscles while improving blood flow. This not only enhances the efficacy of the treatment but also leaves you feeling completely relaxed, pampered, and glowing, as only proper circulation can.

Last but not least, UFO™ 3 incorporates LED therapy with 8 wavelengths of light to target different skin concerns. Whether you're looking to reduce signs of aging, combat acne, or achieve a brighter complexion, there's a color setting to suit your needs.

The best part is that it only takes 90 seconds to 2 minutes – meaning you can get your mask on and still have time to squeeze in a romantic movie, if you're into that.

5. Nourish Your Skin Inside and Out

Eating chocolate on a date night has its aphrodisiac-y hedonistic charm, but why not take your physically and emotionally healthy spa day at home so very seriously to offer snacks that both tantalize your taste buds and nourish your skin and body?

Some great healthier versions of 9 1/2 weeks date-night snack ideas:

Fresh Guacamole: Avocados (make sure your partner is not sensitive to avocados) are packed with healthy fats and antioxidants that do wonders for your skin. Whip up a batch of homemade guacamole using ripe avocados, diced tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and a sprinkle of salt.

Baked Kale Chips: Kale is a nutritional bomb, loaded with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as antioxidants and fiber. Turn this leafy green into crispy, flavorful chips by tossing kale leaves with olive oil, salt, and your favorite seasonings, then baking them until crisp.

Fruit Salad: Nothing satisfies your sweet tooth like the natural sweetness of fresh fruit (we all know this is a lie, but a lie repeated long enough may eventually stop the cake cravings) while giving your skin a healthy glow. Chop up a variety of your favorite fruits—think strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, and kiwi—and toss them together in a bowl.
