QUESTIONS

We’re glad you asked…

Do detangling sprays really work?

Yes, because tangling is a friction problem. Hair snags when the cuticle, the outer layer of overlapping scales on each strand, is lifted or roughened, so strands catch instead of sliding past each other. A detangling spray deposits conditioning and film-forming agents that smooth those scales down and lower the friction, which is why a knot that was fighting the brush gives way after a spritz. What no spray can fix is a split end; once a strand splits, the only cure is scissors. What SPRITZ & SHIELD does is cut down how many new ones you create, pairing the slip with a Tri-Layer Repair System that seals the cuticle, strengthens the cortex, and hydrates the medulla, so the strand comes out of the knot in better shape than it went in.

Why does hair tangle so easily?

Because of the cuticle. When its scales lie flat, strands slide; when they lift, strands grip. Everything that damages hair lifts them: heat styling, coloring, UV, even the friction of a pillowcase. So the more damaged hair is, the more it tangles, and the more it tangles, the more brushing damages it. Texture and moisture set the baseline: curly hair tangles because strands wrap around each other, and all hair tangles most when wet, because water swells the strand and lifts the cuticle. That loop is what SPRITZ & SHIELD is built to break from both ends: Organic Silicones smooth the scales down so strands stop gripping today, and the repair works on the damage that lifts them in the first place.

How do you detangle extremely tangled or matted hair?

From the ends up, never from the roots down. Shake and spritz SPRITZ & SHIELD until the tangle is properly saturated, then give it a few minutes to soften what it touched. Work in small sections, fingers first, starting a few centimeters from the ends and moving up as each section gives way. Then follow with a brush whose bristles flex around a knot instead of ripping through it; FLIP™'s DualFlex™ bristles are built exactly for this, gliding through the freed lengths and holding controlled resistance where the tangle still grips. Matting is a different problem. A mat that has felted solid is beyond what any spray or brush solves at home, and a stylist will save far more of it than a fight will.

Why do you have to shake a detangling spray before using it?

Only the dual-phase ones need it, and there, the separation is the design, not a defect. Oil and water don't mix, and keeping them as two visible layers means neither formula has to be built around the other: the water phase stays light and loaded with actives, the oil phase stays concentrated. SPRITZ & SHIELD runs 80% essence to 20% oil. Shake until the layers blend, spritz, and they'll drift apart again in the bottle. That's the product working, not expiring.

Is detangling spray a heat protectant?

Only if it's formulated as one, so check the label; many aren't. Heat protection comes from film-formers that coat the strand and slow how fast heat and moisture move through it when a hot tool passes. SPRITZ & SHIELD is rated up to 450°F / 230°C, which covers the upper limit of most flat irons and curling tools, so one spritz does the heat-protectant job and the detangling job in the same layer. No product makes heat harmless, though: a protectant reduces damage rather than blocking it, and the lowest temperature that gets the style done is still part of the protection.

Are silicones bad for your hair?

No. The reputation comes from one specific scenario: heavy, water-insoluble silicones building up over time when they're never properly washed out. That's a formulation problem, not a silicone problem. Used well, silicones are among the hardest-working ingredients in hair care, and the Organic Silicones in SPRITZ & SHIELD show why: they seal the cuticle on contact for instant softness and shine, lock in the moisture and actives already absorbed, and neutralize the static behind flyaways, all in a film light enough to leave nothing behind but the smoothness.

Is hydrolyzed wheat protein good for hair?

Yes, and it's one of the few ingredients that works on strength rather than surface. Hair is mostly keratin, and damage from heat, color, and daily wear leaves gaps in those fibers. Hydrolyzed wheat protein is broken down into fragments small enough to work into the cortex and bind where the keratin is damaged, rebuilding strength at the core. In SPRITZ & SHIELD, it's the strengthening layer of the Tri-Layer Repair System, and its effect is cumulative: with regular use, strands regain the elasticity to bend without snapping, which shows up as less breakage and fewer split ends.

Can hair get too much protein?

It can: overloaded with protein and starved of moisture, hair turns stiff and snaps instead of bending. That mostly happens when concentrated protein treatments stack on top of protein shampoos and masks. A detangling spray sits well below that line; each spritz delivers a fraction of a treatment's dose, and SPRITZ & SHIELD pairs its protein with hydrating Amino Acids, so strength and moisture arrive together. If your routine is already protein-heavy, count it toward the total like any protein product.

What do amino acids do for hair?

Amino acids are what keratin is made of, so they're the closest thing hair has to a native ingredient. The 11 Amino Acids in SPRITZ & SHIELD do two jobs: as building blocks, they replenish what daily damage depletes, restoring fullness and bounce down to the medulla, the hair's core; as humectants, they draw and hold water in the strand, working alongside Sodium Hyaluronate to hydrate from the inside out rather than coating the outside. The visible result is the one amino acids are best known for: shine. Well-nourished hair has a smoother surface, and a smoother surface reflects light better.

Which ingredients should you avoid in hair products?

The first filter is whether the product rinses out or stays in. A leave-in sits on your hair all day, so its ingredient list deserves the harder look. Keep out sulfates like SLS and SLES, strong cleansers with no business in anything that doesn't rinse; mineral oil, which builds an occlusive coating over time; formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives; and phthalates, most often hiding inside unlisted fragrance blends. SPRITZ & SHIELD is formulated without any of those, along with parabens, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban. The formula is 94% natural origin ingredients, cruelty-free and vegan, and suitable for all hair types. Not because every excluded ingredient is dangerous in every product, but because a spray that lives in your hair should carry nothing you'd want to wash out.
